Team Fortress is a first person shooter video game that was developed by Valve Corporation and published in 1999 by Sierra Entertainment for the platforms on Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. Team Fortress gameplay consists of two teams and there are a variety of game modes to choose from. The game was made much popular with the release of the prequel Team Fortress 2.
The two teams are separated by color so there is a red team and a blue team. Each of the teams’ players will choose which class they wish to play as. The different character classes feature different weapons and special skills. Since Team Fortress includes several classes the players must cooperate to use their skills together in a way that will successfully complete the given objective. It’s recommended that the teams discuss which class each player is choosing so that they have a game plan and a wide variety of weapons and abilities.
The multiplayer in Team Fortress allows a maximum of thirty two players onto a server for a game match. There is a variety of game modes to choose from and each of them has a different overall goal.
There is a total of nine character classes in Team Fortress for players to pick from. Each class includes a primary weapon that is special to that specific class. There’s also a secondary weapon that may be included in several classes. Players get a third weapon as well and it’s usually a melee weapon. Every class provides the player with a number of grenades but how the grenades work will depend on the class the player chose.
One of the game modes in Team Fortress is the civilian and this is only an option for escort game modes. Civilians must be guarded by other players on the team because they have a low health meter and no armor to protect them. They do have one weapon but it’s just an umbrella.
Another class in Team Fortress is the Scout and he is the fastest character offered in the game. He may be fast but he isn’t capable of damaging an enemies health enough to help the team. The scouts weapon is a nail gun and he also has special concussion grenades that cause enemies to be slowed down.
The Sniper is also a class in Team Fortress and he of course is given a sniper. This allows teams to take out enemies that are located a great distance from the teams position. The sniper is high powered too so it deals a decent amount of damage along with its wide range.
There are other character classes in Team Fortress, such as Soldier, Demoman, Pyro, Spy, and Engineer. The final class is the Medic class and the Medics are responsible for healing injured team members. They also have the ability to infect the enemies with various deadly diseases. Medics in Team Fortress are provided with a super nail gun, more concussion grenades, and their medical kits.
