Resident Evil Revelations 2 is a survival horror video game that was developed by Capcom and published in 2015 by Capcom and Sony Computer Entertainment for the flowing platforms: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and Microsoft Windows. Resident Evil Revelations 2 is the tenth addition to the Resident Evil video game series and the direct sequel to Resident Evil Revelations.
The plot of Resident Evil Revelations 2 consists of the events that took place in between Resident Evil 5 and 6. The main character is Claire Redfield and Moira, the daughter of Barry Burton, accompanies Claire throughout the game.
The two protagonists will attempt to escape the island they’re stuck on while having to fend off the monsters surrounding them. Barry will return to Resident Evil Revelations 2 and try to rescue Moira from the island. He seeks help from a new character who happens to be a little girl known as Natalia Korda.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 is like the first Revelations game because of its structure which consists of two prominent storylines. Players will simultaneously follow each story that follows two different pairs of characters. The first story shows Claire and Moira as they try to figure out who kidnapped them and a way to escape the mysterious island.
The next story reveals the attempts of Barry and Natalia to locate Claire and Moira. The Resident Evil Revelations 2 is split up into four episodes and they alternate in the two characters they are following.
Players view the world from a third person perspective. The controls that were featured in the first Resident Evil Revelations are also used for Resident Evil Revelations 2. The controls are similar to what is usually used in first person shooter games, which makes it easier for the player to travel around the map while fending off enemies. Its also bringing back the ability to dodge whenever they feel it necessary.
The crouching ability has been added to Resident Evil Revelations 2 so players can carry out even stealthier moves. They can crouch to sneak away from enemies without being seen or sneak up behind enemies who aren’t aware of their location. By crouching the player will also have a steadier aim.
The sprinting feature from Resident Evil 6 is available in Resident Evil Revelations 2 too. Players can sprint for a certain period of time before their character gets too tired and run out of breath. When this happens the speed of their movement before they started running slows down and their aim will become less accurate. Their normal abilities will return once they have steadied their breathing again.
A useful point in Resident Evil Revelations 2 makes it possible for enemies to damage the health of other enemies within a close enough distance. Players can use this to help them reduce the number of surrounding enemies by making them run into and attack each other.
The guns in Resident Evil Revelations 2 all have the same cross sight for aiming, but it can be changed to a laser sight if the player wants. The laser comes in a variety of colors, including red, white, blue, and green. This offers a little room for customization of weapons.
Cooperative gameplay is the biggest addition to Resident Evil Revelations 2. There is no option for playing with distant players over the Internet. In order to player cooperatively the players must be local and join in a game that’s split screen. Whether it’s played on single player or multiplayer the gameplay is different from the previous installment because the protagonists each have a supporting character.
Claire is accompanied by Moira and Barry is joined by Natalia. The playable characters are Claire and Natalia and the player can switch to the other player whenever they are playing in single player mode. The multiplayer mode will assign each of the players one of the characters.
In order for a game over to occur in Resident Evil Revelations 2, one of the main protagonists has to be taken down, so Claire or Barry. It’s possible for Moira and Natalia to go down too but the player can bring them back into the game by reviving them.
The leading characters, Claire and Barry, will take on a majority of the combat just like the protagonists in previous Resident Evil games. They can attack surprised enemies by making head shots.
Players are capable of being downed while in combat, resulting in the end of the game. Each player is provided with a knife to stab enemies. Four weapons are also granted to the players and they can switch between their set of weapons during combat.
The character following Claire does not get any firearms. Moira will be most useful to the player by shining her flashlight into the eyes of the enemies. She will prevent the enemies from being able to see and allow Claire to sneak in safely and take them down. The light of the flashlight also enables the player to pick up items that are hidden around the map.
Although she doesn’t have any firearms in her inventory she does have a crowbar. She can use the crowbar in Melee attacks against enemies to defend herself.
Barry is followed by Natalia and she also isn’t allowed firearms. Just like Moira, Natalia can point out items to Barry and allow him to collect them. Her special vision also lets her see any hidden enemies or traps waiting for them. If she is in the crouched position she will have a greater range of vision and spot enemies at a greater distance.
She isn’t given a crowbar like Moira but she can pick up bricks she finds around the area. She can use the brick to smash the heads of enemies but it won’t last forever and she’ll eventually have to go find a new brick.
