Left 4 Dead 2 is the second installment in the first person shooter horror series Left 4 Dead. Left 4 Dead 2 was developed and published by Valve Corporation and was released for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360, OS X, and Linux in 2009. Left 4 Dead 2 is the sequel to the original Left 4 Dead game.
Five new campaigns are included in Left 4 Dead 2. Each campaign consists of about four levels. The way in which the campaigns are brought up is the same as they were in the first Left 4 Dead. It’s shown to the player as if it’s a movie and the main characters are the four featured survivors. It even rolls through ending credits with each players score by the end of the campaign.
A majority of the gameplay in Left 4 Dead 2 involves all of the survivors making it to the safe area and shutting it off in time. They’re basically traveling around the world trying to kill or avoid any of the infected in their path. The ending level of every campaign in Left 4 Dead 2 requires a little more from the players.
The survivors have three options to advance to the next campaign; call for help and hope someone rescues them, make it out of a mass of the infected alive so they can reach the car on the other side, or use the fuel cans they gathered through the levels to somehow assist them in their escape.
Left 4 Dead 2 has a variety of equipment for the survivors but they’re organized into five groups and the players can each only have one from every group. The weapons themselves are divided into four groups; tier one, tier two, tier three, and tier four.
The first tier of weapons aren’t very powerful because even after firing several rounds there isn’t much damage caused. The second tier of weapons offer more damage with each shot fired and they’re found more in the end of campaigns.
Tier three contains guns that do not have ammunition that can be found around the map and there’s usually only one of these located in the campaign. The fourth tier of weapons holds guns that need to be mounted and they also come with an unlimited supply of ammunition.
Players can also carry a secondary weapon in Left 4 Dead 2. The secondary weapons can either be a melee weapon or a basic pistol. Each player carries a flashlight with them in Left 4 Dead 2 along with their weapons. The flashlight allows them to see at nighttime but it also causes more of the infected to notice them which is dangerous.
The final things player may carry with them in Left 4 Dead 2 are first aid kits and weapon that can be thrown. First aid kits are useful for regenerating health and taking care of wounds. The throwable weapons include Molotov cocktails which set anything surrounding on fire, pipe bombs which bring in the infected due to bright lights and then it blows up, and boomer bike which draws in the infected to anything the bile sticks too.
