Borderlands is the original game in this action first person shooter video game series. It was developed by Gearbox Software, Demiurge Studios, Shadows in the Darkness, Darkside Games, and Feral Interactive. Borderlands was published in 2009 by 2K Games, Microsoft Windows Studios, CyberFront, and Feral Interactive.
The game was distributed on platforms for Microsoft Windows, OS X, OnLive, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. The sequel to Borderlands is Borderlands 2 and there’s also a game that falls in between the two major games, Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Tales from the Borderlands is a running series of games which explore the world of Borderlands in more depth.
The reason Borderlands is considered to be a role playing game is because it includes various elements that build up the player’s character. Before Borderlands gameplay begins the player will choose one of four available characters.
They each come with a unique set of weapons and special abilities. One of the characters is named Roland and he is a soldier. The next character is given the name Mordecai and he is a Hunter. The third character is Lilith and she’s a Siren. The last character offered in Borderlands is named Brick and he’s a Berserker.
Borderlands gameplay is guided by characters controlled by the game and they are the ones who deliver the various missions to the player. By completing these missions the player can earn different awards, whether it be in game currency, experience points, or a random item that can be used later in the game.
Players earn experience points in Borderlands by killing all types of enemies in the missions or by completing side missions offered in the major missions. The experience points can be transformed into skill points and used to buy specialization for their characters class from the skill tree. For example, the hunter can become a sniper, gunslinger, or become skilled with revolvers. He could also use his pet names Bloodwing for help in his battles.
Borderlands starts players off with two places to store their weapons. As the game progresses they will eventually have four places for their weapons. There will also be a grenade and energy shield added to the players slots at one point in the game.
The system of spontaneous weapon generation is one of the features Borderlands is known for. The game will generate shops with weapons, random items placed around the map, and drops the weapons of enemies that have been killed. If a player picks up a gun in Borderlands that was spawned somewhere in the map they can sell it to a vendor they run into later on for money they can use to buy other items.
The energy shield in Borderlands protects the player from taking so much damage in combat. When the shield has been completely destroyed the player will begin to receive damage from enemies again. When a player runs out of health they’ll either be revived by a near by character or have to respawn back at the closest New-U station.
You may also like to play Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel – their downloads work really smoothly. You can play games like Borderlands such as Bioshock Infinite, Half-Life 2 and Block N Load (for some epic explosion).
